All Writers are you up for a challenge????

Lave a comment.
(the cause of this freak out, actually): when talking about the general population of LJ, they chose the Harry Potter Fandom as a main representation. Which would be fine, I guess, except I know that, while we are huge, LJ was here before HP and there are people who do more than that. It would be even better if they didn't describe the fandom as "the troublesome clique of Harry Potter erotica writers whose outré tastes ran afoul of LiveJournal's efforts to comply with U.S. child-pornography laws." Granted, that was the topic of the month, got several comm.s deleted by default, and points were made and lost, but is that the sum of this place? Really? The sum of the fandom? Troublesome? I'm troublesome because I like fanfiction, a certain series, happen to have an LJ and friends who may or may not write "erotica"? I'm clumped into a 'troublesome' clique just because some (mostly good writers) write fantasy and that was deemed illegal at the time because other people who act it out in real life had to be contained? The article even says that's what LJ is most known for, and that it is a "quirky" place. What?
